Experience the Ultimate Alpine Climb on Glacier Peak
Overview
Explore one of the Cascades more adventurous volcano glacier climbs on a 4-day summit climb of Glacier Peak, one of Washington's five majestic volcanoes, via the Gerdine and Cool Glacier routes on the south and east sides. As the most remote of these peaks, Glacier Peak offers a unique wilderness adventure. Gain invaluable mountaineering skills including ice axe and crampon use, roped glacier travel, self-arrest techniques, and crevasse rescue when time permits.
The climb begins by gradually ascending through Cascadian foothills rainforest up the Sauk River valley, then climb up to the Pacific Crest Trail and cross into the alpine, hiking through wild flower filled meadows to our basecamp near the Whitechuck Glacier and Glacier Gap. From here ascend across the Gerdine and Cool Glaciers to the Dakobed Summit. The native Sauk name of Dakobed has been translated as "Great Parent." After summiting return to camp enjoy the day and by the next well rested day, make the return hike back to the trailhead.
