Norway Ski Touring
Guided ski touring in Arctic Norway — descend from glaciated summits to the sea in the Lyngen Alps, or sail the fjords of Svalbard under the midnight sun.
Northern Norway is one of the great ski-touring destinations on earth: glaciated peaks that rise straight out of the sea, powder-filled valleys, and descents that run right down to the fjord. Add near-endless spring daylight above the Arctic Circle and world-class AMGA/IFMGA guides, and you have skiing you'll remember for life.
We run two very different Norway trips — a lodge-based week in the legendary Lyngen Alps, and a boat-based expedition in remote Svalbard — both all-inclusive and built around the best snow and weather each day.
Our Norway trips
Guided Ski Trips
All-inclusive guided ski touring — lodging, full board, daily guided tours, and transfers. The Lyngen Alps runs 9 days from a mountain lodge near Tromsø (from $4,600). Svalbard is an 8-day boat-based Arctic expedition from Longyearbyen (from $7,500).
The regions
The Lyngen Alps — "the AK of Norway" — are a dramatic coastal range near Tromsø, with a lodge base, fjord-to-summit descents, and optional sail-to-ski and snowmobile access. Svalbard sits at 78° north, only 650 miles from the North Pole: a true expedition aboard the vessel Ulla, skiing 3,000–4,000-foot peaks that strike the sky straight from the sea, among tidewater glaciers, sea ice, and 24-hour sunlight.

Easy connections through Oslo to Tromsø (Lyngen) or Longyearbyen (Svalbard).

Norway ski touring FAQ
When is the best time to ski in Norway?
The Arctic ski season runs roughly February through May. April is often the sweet spot — long days, settled snow, and descents to the fjords — while May brings corn snow and the midnight sun, and is the prime window for Svalbard.
Do I need experience to ski tour in Norway?
Yes — these trips are best for intermediate to advanced backcountry skiers and splitboarders with prior touring experience, comfort in variable snow, and the fitness for consecutive full days. The trips are guided, but they're remote international objectives where efficient transitions and confident downhill skiing matter.
What's included in a Norway ski trip?
Both trips are all-inclusive of lodging (a mountain lodge in Lyngen, or the vessel Ulla in Svalbard), full board, daily guided ski tours, airport transfers, and local transportation. You cover flights, personal ski/splitboard and safety gear, travel insurance, and personal expenses.
Lyngen Alps vs Svalbard — which trip is right for me?
Lyngen is a lodge-based week of classic fjord-to-summit ski touring near Tromsø — the easier of the two to reach and a superb first Norway trip. Svalbard is farther north, more remote, and expedition-focused: boat-based, with sea ice, tidewater glaciers, and 24-hour daylight. Choose Lyngen for the classic experience, Svalbard for the adventure of a lifetime.
How do I get to the Lyngen Alps or Svalbard?
For Lyngen, fly into Tromsø (via Oslo); we handle transfers from there. For Svalbard, fly into Longyearbyen and meet the guides and vessel at the pier. Exact logistics are sent after you book.
