Japan Ski Touring
Guided skiing and splitboarding in Japan — legendary Hokkaido powder, the bigger alpine terrain of the Japanese Alps, and a women's-specific week.
Japan gets some of the deepest, driest, most reliable powder on earth — the famous "Japow." Storms roll off the Sea of Japan and bury the mountains night after night, and the perfectly spaced birch and beech forests make for dreamlike tree skiing. Add onsen hot springs, incredible food, and warm hospitality, and it's no wonder Japan is a bucket-list trip for every powder skier and splitboarder.
We run two very different experiences: deep, consistent powder on Hokkaido, and the bigger, more varied alpine of the Japanese Alps on Honshu — plus a women's-specific Hokkaido week.
Our Japan trips
Guided Ski Trips
Guided weeks built around the best snow each day — deep powder touring, tree skiing, and backcountry objectives, with local knowledge and all the logistics handled.
The regions
Hokkaido — Japan's northern island — is the powder capital: consistent, bottomless, dry snow and world-class tree skiing with easy backcountry access. The Japanese Alps on Honshu offer bigger, more varied alpine terrain, volcanoes, and longer descents for skiers ready to step beyond the trees.

Japan skiing FAQ
When is the best time to ski in Japan?
Japan's powder season runs roughly December through March, with January the peak for the deepest, most consistent snow. February is still excellent with slightly longer days, and March brings bigger alpine objectives and spring conditions in the Japanese Alps.
Do I need experience to ski in Japan?
Our Japan trips suit intermediate to advanced skiers and splitboarders comfortable in deep, variable snow and multi-day touring. The tree skiing is forgiving, but it's still guided backcountry travel. Guides tailor each day to the group's ability and conditions.
Hokkaido or the Japanese Alps — which trip is right for me?
Choose Hokkaido for the deepest, most reliable powder and world-class tree skiing. Choose the Japanese Alps for bigger, more varied alpine terrain and longer descents. Both are guided and include the logistics; it comes down to the style of skiing you want.
What's included in a Japan ski trip?
Trips include guiding, lodging, and in-country logistics and transport for the itinerary (exact inclusions vary by trip). You cover flights, personal ski/splitboard and avalanche safety gear, travel insurance, and personal expenses. We send full details after you book.
Is Japan good for splitboarders?
Absolutely — Japan's deep snow and tree runs are splitboard heaven, and all our Japan trips welcome splitboarders alongside skiers.
