Come join us on our annual Mount Rainier Climb via the Kautz Glacier Route. This 4 day trip ascends the beautiful Kautz Glacier over 4 days and 3 nights from July 9th - July 13th.

This is a great trip for experienced mountaineers or those with a good level of athleticism. The Kautz Glacier is typically a longer glacier route that has moderate technical sections that range from steep snow, to rock scrambling, to alpine ice climbing. At low ratios of 4 total guest and 2 guides, or a 2:1 guest to guide ratio, we are able to adapt to new conditions with short belayed sections of steep snow or ice. But don't worry most of the time it's a beautiful scenic walk up one of the Cascades most iconic volcanoes.

Our 5 day trip starts off with a gear check the night before our departure in Greenwater Washington. The next day we plan to hike up to high camp. On day 2 we have a short walk from camp. Ideally by day 4 we arise with an alpine start and climb under headlamp as the alpenglow casts over the Kautz's southerly aspects. Gradually the morning turns to day and we climb up the mountain to the summit. This carry over style climb gives us different camps each night and descend via the Disappointment Cleaver Route. We descend to camp muir and enjoy all our hard work and the reward of the summit. Day 5 we walk out to the trailhead in time to grab a burger and beverages in town.
